Consequences: Ruggenti ’20 | Review

May 4, 2025 | reviews

We thank Aristea for the copy of Consequences: Ruggenti ’20 that allowed us to write this review. In a compact and colorful box, Andrea Dado and Andrea Mollica have packed the 20s into three plot hooks that can be played in 30 minutes.

You can find it in Italian on the official store here at a cost of 10 euros. Here, instead, you have a free demo available entitled The Most Difficult Night in the World to get an idea of the product.

Consequences: Ruggenti ’20 Review: Cards and Mechanics

In Consequences: Ruggenti ’20 we will have three decks of 8 cards each, measuring 15×10 cm. The rules are simple and short. Each of the three plot hooks will give us a card with the outlined story, to read aloud at the table. Each player will choose a character, whose background and traits they will have to read without revealing them to the others. The information will be essential to best interpret your part and make choices regarding the ending.

We’ll need to keep a timer and a simple cell phone will do just fine. Each track will require us to read additional developments after 20 minutes. After half an hour, however, we will have our outcome to read aloud depending on the decisions made. There are no other mechanics.

Each story won’t therefore be replayable, since we will know most of the developments. This does not mean that we cannot go and check how things would have gone with an alternative path.

Plots

As previously mentioned, we will find three playable stories in Consequences: Ruggenti ’20.

  • In the first, The Godfather, an organized crime boss must choose his successor.
  • In A Nightmare Cruise, however, a captain will have to deal with a tough nut to crack in the middle of the ocean.
  • The last, Vampyr!, catapults us to Germany, during the production of a vampire-themed film.

Although it is not written in the rules, our heartfelt advice is to give the character who will have to make the final choices (specifically, the godfather, the commander and the director) to the more experienced players, so that they have the reins of the narrative in their hands to better guide the neophytes.

Final Thoughts on the Review of Consequences: Ruggenti ’20

The game was designed as a first approach to the world of roleplaying games and, in fact, lasting half an hour will make it easier to convince those who are still skeptical to try it. The advice is to use it for this purpose, since veterans might find the experience a bit simplistic. It would instead be an excellent product for company recruiters, who by playing it would show off their skills in convincing potential candidates.

Illustrations, by Chiara di Francia, are simple but convey the characters’ ideas well. The paper the box is made of and the cardboard are of excellent quality, making it difficult to be ruined after just one game. The graphics, very cartoonish, make the product very usable and colorful.

Ultimately, a cheap and quick product to give to anyone who wants to spend a different evening, even if they are not (yet) role players.
