Before analyzing in detail the PolyHero Dice, I want to thank Tabletop Tyconn for sending us 3 sets of special dice to present in this review.
If you fall in love with these dice like us, know that you can find them directly on the Tabletop Tycoon store at a price ranging from $15 to $35, therefore from around 15 to 35 euros.
The Creators of PolyHero Dice
Designers Greg May and Dann May started this line of imaginative dice creations in 2015, with a Kickstarter campaign to be able to produce the Warrior Set. The project went so well that several others were gradually added to the first original set.
Later, they released the Wizard Set and, more recently, the Rogue Set and the Cleric Set. Gradually they added new colours and the ability to buy single dice or groups of identical dice. All of these options are purchasable at the official Tabletop Tycoon store.
Reviews of the Offer ofPolyHero Dice
With PolyHero Dice, customization at the table is high. These are dice that recall the weapons and equipment of your favourite hero. Different sets are available for the other classes of classic fantasy characters: Wizards, Warriors, Thieves and Clerics.
We have received the Warrior Set and the Rogue Set plus a certain number of potion dice because when adventuring we always have to safeguard the health of our characters.
So let’s take a closer look at the sets sent to us.
PolyHero Dice: The Warrior Set
Of a beautiful “carnage red”, the dice of the Warrior Set are the most suitable for a granite and courageous warrior. Ready to face any kind of danger, this set of 8 dice represents the very essence of a warrior. The set represents the canonical equipment of this character; at least as proposed in the vast majority of fantasy RPGs.
The set consists of two d20 in the shape of a spiked ball, a d12 in the shape of a helmet, two d10 in the shape of gloves, a d8 in the shape of a spiked mace, the d6 in the shape of a sword and the d4 representing a dagger. In short, a very good artillery.
PolyHero Dice: The Rogue Set
We have a set of “midnight blue” dice for our cunning hero with incredible reflexes. Also in this case it is a set consisting of 8 dice with curious and decidedly themed shapes.
The Rogue Set is composed of two d20 in the shape of explosive barrels, a d12 in the shape of a gem, two d10 in the shape of bags of coins, a d8 in the shape of a crossbow bolt, a d6 in the shape of a poison flask and a dagger-shaped d4.
Feature Review of PolyHero Dice
Beyond pure personal taste, I can say that the PolyHero Dice are well made. The production materials are solid, the chosen colours are decidedly captivating and the numbers, in stark contrast to the colour of the dice, are always perfectly legible even from a certain distance. The quality of the resin is good but not excellent; all dice are however characterized by a good weight and remarkable durability.
They will certainly look great on more than one table, especially those where you play a classic fantasy role-playing game. However, I found some difficulty in handling some of them. The general impression is that more care is needed to ensure that they roll properly and therefore offer truly unpredictable results. In particular, the gem-shaped die of the Rogue Set or the glove-shaped dice of the Warrior Set seemed to me to be the ones that needed the most attention.
Final Thoughts of the Review of PolyHero Dice
The PolyHero Dice, as can be seen from this review, are certainly a product that focuses heavily on the charm of a truly captivating aesthetic.
However, they certainly are the perfect accessory for a gift; especially for those players who enjoy classic fantasy or have a favourite character class.
