Quality Comes at a Price
Upon opening the box, I had the pleasure of examining the contents. Inside, you’ll find a well-crafted red metal d20, the base, and the power adapter.
The die itself is the size of a standard d20, but much heavier. The Levitating Dice are available in four colors: red, black, copper, and rainbow. In addition to color, you can choose the die size from the standard seven (d4, d6, d8, d10, d100, d12, and d20), or opt for the entire set. Regardless of the choice, the numbers are easy to read, making the dice functional for gaming as well.
The base measures 11 cm per side and 3 cm in height. Its neutral design fits well with any type of décor. On the producer’s website, you can choose the base color from oak, walnut, white, or black. The power adapter needs to be plugged into the base and is essential for its operation.
How the Levitating Dice Work
At their core, these Levitating Dice can be used like any other dice, by grasping them mid-air and rolling them on a non-metallic (and non-fragile) surface.
What makes them special, however, is their decorative function, which is sure to impress any role-playing gamer. All you need to do is plug the base into a power source using the adapter, carefully place the die at the center of the base, and the magic happens. The die begins to levitate! The only tricky part is positioning the die over the active base; you need to find the balance point.
I tested this Levitating Dice extensively before writing this review. WOW! It boasts incredibly stable and smooth magnetic levitation. As long as it’s connected to power, it can float just a few centimeters above the base indefinitely.
